Why Pathways?

 

While we are all connected as members of Temple Oheb Shalom, we arrived here via different paths. Some of us are multi-generational families with long, rich histories in Baltimore and at Oheb Shalom, while some of us are newcomers, first generation members who came here for varying reasons. Our Temple's outstanding reputation for dynamic clergy, enriching education, and as a warm and welcoming congregation was the motivation for many.

Arriving on different paths, each of us finds meaning in different areas of Temple life. For some, it is T'filah – prayer, meaningful worship experiences; Torah – lifelong learning that enriches the lives of students of all ages, while Sh'leimut – wellness, ensures our physical and emotional well being. We all glean different experiences, and these are ever changing. There is something at Oheb Shalom that appeals to each of our diverse interests as we share our Jewish journey. Wherever these pathways lead, the sacred community known as Oheb Shalom connects us.

Looking ahead, we collectively address the congregation's current and future needs. We share a common priority: providing and strengthening the elements that make Oheb Shalom vibrant and strong. Our four priorities have been and will continue to be:

  • To experience meaningful worship through prayer and music
  • To offer educational programs that enhance our vibrant and diverse congregation
  • To sustain our beautiful facilities
  • To safeguard our congregation for generations to come.

As we strive for excellence in all we do, we confront the reality that our love for Temple is linked to an investment in its future.
