About The Learning Ladder

Our Philosophy: We are a high quality Jewish pre-school and child care center in Pikesville. At the Learning Ladder, we believe that each child is a special and unique individual. Our program provides learning and positive social interaction opportunities for all children through a quality, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate program, in a safe and supportive environment. Our program is designed to meet the needs of each and every child, and encourages them to grow and develop at their own pace and in their own way.

Our children are able to explore the world around them through a variety of hands-on experiences. They develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills through encounters with make-believe, play, art, manipulative toys, block building, science, cooking, literature, music, and, of course, one another. In addition, our children develop an intense feeling of pride in their Jewish heritage, by observing and participating in Jewish customs, rituals, and holiday observances.

As early childhood professionals, our aim is to give each child the opportunity to learn, develop, and play to the fullest extent possible.

Our Mission Statement: The Learning Ladder offers early childhood programs to children ages 10 weeks through 4 years old and their families in a welcoming and nurturing Jewish environment. We are committed to providing a meaningful and developmentally based program centered on purposeful activities and real-life tasks, using a play-based, emergent, and outdoor curriculum. Each child’s unique style of living and learning is respected and fostered. Jewish values and traditions are interwoven into our programs, drawing upon the important connections between the children, their families, and the vibrant Oheb Shalom community at large.

Our ProgramEvery day exciting activities take place in each classroom, including group and individual learning experiences. We allow each child to grow as an individual at his or her own pace in all areas of development: social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual. Our Infant/Toddler programs provide the love, nurturing, sensory stimulation and caring which is so vital for the young child. Older children develop early reading and math skills that are important for success in school. We provide pre-school children with the opportunity to develop a strong sense of self as well as an intellectual and spiritual curiosity and identity.
