Pre-K Program
Parparim is an innovative program designed for 4 and 5 year old children who are not yet in kindergarten but ready to spread their wings and begin their religious education. This program is the perfect introduction to the religious school setting and will provide your child the opportunity to develop into a confident, curious, and strong Jewish learner. There are two main components to the Parparim program: First, a Judaics component designed to help your child identify Jewish themes and ideas and integrate them into their everyday lives; and, second, a Hebrew component designed to help your child build a Hebrew vocabulary for everyday objects and get comfortable with a new language.
Kindergarten through 3rd Grade Program
Judaics
This curriculum focuses on communicating the major concepts that provide the foundation for a lifetime of Jewish learning and living. The concepts are based on the three tenants of Judaism:
Torah (Study): An ongoing dialogue between the text and our students, which helps them develop the skills to study Torah and to integrate it into their lives.
Avodah (Prayer): Provides students with the understanding to find their sacred connections to God, community, and self through prayer.
G’milut Chasadim (Acts of Loving Kindness): Teaches students that we have a responsibility to perform good deeds to make the world a better place.
Hebrew
Our curriculum focuses on Hebrew reading and prayer fluency that fosters a high level of comfort and ability for our students to participate in Jewish communal life. We make learning fun with games, music, and computers. Our computers are equipped with special language-learning software to stimulate attention and interest from our students
4th Grade through 6th Grade Program
Judaics
A continuation of the K-3 curriculum which teaches the foundation for a lifetime of Jewish learning and living. Based on the three tenants of Judaism:Torah (Study), Avodah (Prayer), and G’milut Chasadim (Acts of Loving Kindness).
Hebrew
We foster a high level of comfort and ability in Hebrew reading with the use of Hebrew computer programs equipped with engaging, interactive, and fun language-learning software. This prepares our 4th through 6th grades for their Bar and Bat Mitzvah and Jewish communal worship. Students will be expected to complete a 30-45 minute assignment from home using the internet
Shabbaton Saturday program
One Saturday each month, the students come for a program which includes breakfast, a Shabbat service, and lunch. This program turns the classroom learning experience into a Shabbat experience where the students use their Hebrew skills to participate and lead in worship.
7th Grade Program
CORE Curriculum
Designed to transition our 7th graders into adult Jewish learners as they prepare to accept adult responsibilities in the eyes of the Jewish community. Through the learning of Jewish Values and Ethics, the students will continue to form and refine their relationship with Judaism, the Jewish community, and God. In conjunction with one on one
Bar/Bat Mitzvah tutoring, the 7th grade program provides the concrete skills that will not only assist them during their Bar or Bat Mitzvah, but will allow them to further their participation in the Jewish community as a young adult
Gender-specific programs
A monthly opportunity to have “girls only” and “boys only” conversations in a guided, safe, and non-judgmental environment. This program encourages self-respect, self-esteem, and behavior becoming of young Jewish men and women.
7th grade Retreat
A two-day, one night stay at a camp-like setting with the three other Reform Congregations in the Baltimore area. The retreat fosters creative and interactive Jewish learning and is a great way to supplement the curriculum and to create lasting friendships among our students.
