Worship Shabbat Services

Shabbat Services

Our members and guests find our worship services to be inviting, fulfilling, comforting, joyous and meaningful.
Music is the soul of our worship; bringing joy, personal insight and a sense of community to our prayers.
Our services are filled with a variety of music and prayers, including contemporary and traditional melodies, to satisfy the spiritual needs of our congregants. We believe that this diversity creates a beautiful worship experience in an environment inspiring full and spirited congregational participation

Erev Shabbat Services
The First Friday of each month is Family Shabbat. Services begin at 6:15PM and at this service we offer Birthday Blessings to those whose birthdays occur that month. A congregational dinner (reservations required) follows. This joyous musical service is led by our clergy and guitarists. Please join us for a spirited and innovative Shabbat experience! (A CD of the service music is available for all member families to become familiar with new songs.) BirthdayBlessings

On the Second, Fourth and Fifth Fridays of each month our service begins at 6:15PM in the Peggy and Yale Gordon Chapel. The service, from the Mishkan T'filah siddur (prayerbook), includes a sermon by the Rabbi, as well as a mix of traditional and contemporary melodies and prayers. This service offers opportunities for congregational participation through liturgy and music. Join us for an uplifting and meaningful Shabbat experience!

The Third Friday of the month begins with Tot Shabbat, an interactive and fun service for families with young children at 6:00PM in the Gordon Chapel. This service includes guitar music, singing and storytelling. People of all ages are welcome.

We follow Tot Shabbat on the Third Friday of the month with a congregational dinner at 6:30PM (reservations required) and continue the evening with our Erev Shabbat Shiur Service at 6:15PM. The service, from Mishkan T'filah, includes a special lesson about the liturgy by the Rabbi and Cantor. Let's join our voices in song as we uplift our spirits!

"Shabbat Ruach" is an exciting musical Shabbat experience with our own band and service without a prayerbook. This Visual T'filah "service in song" is a blend of contemporary melodies composed by some of the leading Jewish composers of our time presented in a unique and modern manner combining our liturgy with art and other visual imagery. Join us and enjoy this Shabbat innovation!

Shabbat Morning Worship

Our 10:30AM Shabbat morning service often includes a Bar or Bat Mitzvah celebration and other life-cycle simchot. The service is led by one or both of our Rabbis and our Cantor and includes the reading of Torah and Haftarah.
Daily Minyanim

Temple Oheb Shalom is the only Reform synagogue in Baltimore to hold a daily minyan. Our morning minyan every Monday-Friday at 7:30AM and on Sunday mornings at 9:00AM (except on Sundays when the building is closed for summer or Religious School breaks) is followed by a light breakfast.
